Roof repair

Roof repair of the infectious disease ward at the hospital (MBAL) in Aytos.

The repair included removal of the old ceramic ridge caps and tiles, including:

  • Removal of the old materials
  • Removal of the old timber sheathing
  • Removal of the old timber structure
  • Formwork construction and removal for reinforced-concrete tie beams

The new roof works included:

  • New timber sheathing across the roof
  • Laying of a waterproof membrane
  • Fixing of timber battens for the tiles
  • Covering with new tiles, and new ridge and hip caps
  • Varnishing of fascia boards and cladding of roof edges, cornices and verges with galvanised sheet metal
  • Cladding, supply and installation of galvanised sheet-metal gutters
  • Ø100mm downpipes and rainwater hopper
  • Levelling screed for slope, and application of bitumen primer
  • Waterproofing with two reinforced layers of roofing felt
